I think all of us are pretty aware that AT is the norm and majority
This post wasn't meant that we are actively changing it. But, as BRZ owners, we are making a point that there are still people buying MT over AT, when it is available for the consumer.
With cars like 86, and when there's an option to get MT (and many cars don't have that option these days), 86 owners has spoken that there are people like us who will still pick MT.

2013 total production for the BRZ (automatic and manual): 8000 vehicles (X,2). A generous estimate.
World production (2012): 84,000,000 (Y)
8000 divided by 84,00,000 x 100 = 0.009 % That's about one one hundredth of one per cent the amount of manual transmissions of BRZ vs the world. and less if brz automatics are not included in the math. So "70%" don't mean much more than one tufted titmouse dropping in the city of New York..
