I think what you're trying to say is that the dealership is not getting paid for the labor. IIRC, the parts aren't being paid for by the dealership either. They get reimbursed from Subaru. So it's only costing the dealership the tech's time. Since dealerships don't make any money off of warranty work, they often don't like doing it, but if that's the case, you need to find a different dealer because how you're treated after the sale of the car is just as important as how they treated you during the sale.
I see how I could have been misunderstood because I failed to mention a few things... As for the tech not getting paid...when a car comes back for the SAME issue after they tried to fix it before ... they are required to look at the problem and correct it for free. They are not paid any additional labor to fix a problem that wasn't done right the first time. As for the part, regaurdless of online cost...no one here should be buying it because its a warranty issue. And yes my friend the warranty retail price is $1302 when we bill it (i know exactly what price you are seeing...u are correct also). if a part is ordered and is not used it adds to our obsolescence if its something that can/might have a high chance of layin on the shelf more than 60 days. (in this car 2% chance of the part staying that long) Parts managers can only send back 7% of inventory a month and are required to hold onto a part not needed after order at least 60 days. (sometimes less depending on dealership/ers) The more the item costs the less you can send back you dont need when your trying to get rid of things. Its not something you guys have to worry about obviously. (back on subject of pump) What everyone has to be sure they are doing is make them understand its not coming back to be re-inspected but to be replaced with the new Toyota replacement. I'll be willing to bet they wrote your car up as a re-inspection and the techs are thinking becuz they hear nothing and wont get paid to replace a part again they send it back. Our techs get 2.5 labor hours from Toyota for the job also i can assure you. Everytime an FRS comes in they give ours to the same master techs and I inquire about everything so I know what to possibly expect from mine. I dunno why Subaru's labor is less sorry.
