Keep in mind fuel quality varies from state-to-state, terrain makes a huge difference, and sloppy WOT driving kills economy while not garnering much added performance. You're going to have garbage MPG if you're hauling ass through canyons in SoCal vs straight flat highway across Ohio. 30 MPG is easy with this engine if you're not WOT all day long.

If you're running boost on an inefficient map, goodbye fuel economy. My stock STI rarely gets better than 20 MPG.
