The way I look at it is that the FRS with a turbo at 7 psi and fuel upgrades makes 300whp. That cost 5,000 at most. Frs 25,000 + 5,000= 30,000 approx. sti 09 or 2010 in good condition low mileage is going to cost about 30,000 or 31,000. And it makes 305 at 14.5psi. Same hp less psi required.
I almost did the same think you are doing. I considered a 2010 it was running for 29,000 with 45,000 miles I think. I also looked at a new sti. It is 38,000 at the lowest. I didn't do it because the fa20 is a better block to boost on and that is proven by Crawford performance. The frs is lighter and rwd the sti isn't.
That is my two cents from my experience. I want to own an sti one day but I have grown to see I have a sti in potential
