Its really hard to tell through the sound clips online but I want an exhaust that is definitely louder than stock but with no drone at all. So is the resonated system what I want or the non-resonated?

I've got the resonated catback. It's not much louder than stock at all IMHO, but has a little bit deeper, bass-ier, more rumbly sound to it. The system is a little louder than stock, but the increase in volume seems to be greater inside the cabin than it is at the tailpipe, which I actually like for a DD since I can drive it around at night without feeling like a total asshole.
I'd grab some sound clips of mine if I had any kind of decent mic setup to work with. I don't think cellphone video will give you a good idea of what it sounds like.
Mann's video comparing the stock vs Milltek resonated system is pretty accurate:

The resonated system (really, both systems, since the guys at Mann said the non-resonated one is only a couple of db louder than the resonated) really isn't much louder than stock, but the sounds it makes are nicer. Insert, "this is how it should have come from the factory" cliche here-- you're not going to install this system and find out that your car suddenly sounds like a straight-piped STI. It's really pretty reserved. I really didn't want an overly-loud exhaust since my BRZ is my DD and I don't like to feel like an asshole driving around at night etc, but even I sometimes wonder if I should have gotten the non-resonated version. The resonated is pretty subtle: it sounds
better than stock, not louder.
