15% percent spread is actually pretty good. For that price you're running about the same cost per mile as Premium. Detonation at low RPM is usually where Ethanol makes the most difference. So that's where the biggest gains come.
Damn. 40? My primitive 1ZZ does not enrich the mix before 4600rpm or something (I think the idea is that you can go 100mph on the Autobahn with the Euro spec car without running rich) so the hope is that above that the engine gets tricked into running a little less rich by screwing with the injector pulse extrapolation. I really need an Apexi PFC

I just filled the gas tank with normal gas today to dilute it down, I think it's at E21 now. Immediately the knocking sound came back. Gonna stick to 27-30% from now on, 3 gallons E85 per tank, which will cost me about 3% extra in fuel costs overall, which is not even as bad as running 89 instead of 87 (5% price hike). I think it's well worth the smoothness and avoiding the embarrassment of having weird sketchy noises when there's a passenger in the car.
