you're in for a serious beating, it is unfortunate, but you have been caught in one our dreaded loopholes of the auto collision industry and pretty much did all the things you shouldn't do.

phonecalls are not going to solve anything, you're gonna have to show up to this place and speak to someone in person to discuss what is happening and what is going to happen and how yuo can, if at all, wiggle yourself out of it.

you also need a copy of whatever it is that you signed from the tow truck driver

make sure you establish that the body shop is not going to charge you for "keeping your car safe", ie, a "holding charge", esp since no work is currently being done.

they are gonna squeeze you for everythign they can and the only way you'll get anything back is through a small claims court. YOu can also call your visa up and tell them that they are processing unauthorized transcations, this will surely get their attention.

i doubt any good will come of this, so laywer up.

They are banking on the fact that all this will be paid for by your insurance company, so they don't see it as anything wrong.

ath the end of the day, if they'll really bend your arm, at least negotiate a standard of work to be performed, and if they don't fix your car right then they don't get paid. Involve your insurance company every step of the way.
