Tech! Fantastic write-up but unfortunately I think it might be a little north of my current skill set... but it's hopefully enough to guide someone more skilled through the process.
Thanks for taking the extra time to contribute this... and sharing what you learned. I've been reading these threads for a few days now and I'm starting to see this HU as the solution I've wanted in a car for years... and matching the LED color to the rest of my BRZ lighting was the only thing holding me back from trying it.
