Are you still living in 1990's? Autos today are lighter, more efficient and have higher torque capacity.

Technology does not stand still. More people drive autos, hence more $$ are being spent to develop them.
The grand picture of it all is: Who cares?

Regular drivers will mostly buy the automatic, not because it isnt as heavy as its 90's counterparts, or has higher torque capacity, but because its automatic. They don't care about that crap.

Posers will buy the automatic because...well, they're posers...there's no real reason to explain them fully.

Enthusiast drivers will buy the manual because its about being in control of the car, and feeling the car as you drive it. These drivers also don't care about how far AT's have come because....who cares?

You could put an AT in a car that would surpass my own ability shift quickly and efficiently, and would make another driver faster than me because of said characteristics, but I could give two less shits about that. I'd still drive the manual.

This topic is still going btw?

Its gonna have an auto option. Which transmission you purchase is entirely up to you and reflects, in no way, what kind of driver you are. /end sarcasm
