I was about to make that suggestion, this way we don't get too dispersed and lose people in the process. Splitting up worked really well from the last bbq (2 medium sized groups, with folks familiar with the route and have a radio leading/tailing/in-between the group). I'd even make the suggestion of splitting the groups by "comfort level" that way the more "enthusiastic" drivers can go on the first group and not be stuck behind slower cars while the slower drivers (like me) don't feel pressured to keep up and not get left by the group.
