Even if you did shift at redline, how is that abusive? Why does it have a 7400 rpm redline then? If they want you to baby it they should put a 5000 rpm redline or less. I drove my honda family sedan to redline everyday and it went 110k without missing a beat.
That is one thing that sucks about manual trans, they will just jump to user error if they have a chance.
