It's like auto-x but faster. Fun in a different way and with other drivers in all kinds of cars grouped according to experience but for insurance purposes not wheel-to-wheel racing and untimed. Always with an Instructor until they sign you off for solo that could take a few track days. It's exhilarating, satisfying and confidence building while making you a better, safer driver off the track knowing how to control your car through unusual attitudes you'll never normally encounter on road. Usually organized through local car clubs that welcome all makes or nationally through HPDE and Hooked On Driving. A plus is that you can choose where to run including famous tracks. Typically four 20-25 minute runs per day, costs about $200-$350 depending on the track and sponsors.
