Mine have a semi matte finish to them as well. I pre sanded with 800 grit and put about 3-4 coats of the red Metalcast. I wet sanded 2000 grit in between coats as some dust got on the paint. Yeah, there are also dusts in between the clear coats that I did, but they are barely noticeable and sanding them out would not be feasible for me as the 2K Clear Coat can only be used within 24-48 hours after activating.
When I did the 3x light coats of clear, the texture is still matte and I was getting a bit worried, so the next 2 coats I sprayed on heavy and it worked! I got the gloss that I wanted.
