Tamiya recommends you paint the whole thing black, then use Q tips dipped in thinner to remove the black from the intended chrome bits. Well this technique didn't quite work for me because the paint had cured already (it took only four hours, wasn't expecting that). So I had to improvise a bit with some plastic micro brushes after soaking in thinner. I did unfortunately scratch some of the chrome but I was able to touch it up with X-11.
