Yeah I have a hard time believing they'd go through the complexity of putting a variable drive just to slow down oil feeding at higher rpms. If anything they'd want to raise it to push more circulation.
Maybe on a high end (LFA type) car they'd do that sort of thing but lets face it, our FR-S is a budget car and doesn't have very many luxuries.
