That is not true, I don't know where you heard that...the HPS is a new oil developed for cars with higher mileage outside of factory warranties. It has a much higher zinc and phosphorus content, the two main antiwear metals in oil. That is why it is not SAE approved, because it exceeds their allowances for those two metals. The reason the SAE won't approve more is because it can damage catalytic converters, thus the oil is designed for cars outside of warranty (a non SAE approved oil will void your warranty, should anything go wrong).
