The taillights are 100% plug and play. Since the reverse light on the US based vehicles only has power from the reverse light, in order for the brake light to actually work you need to tap into power which you use off of the taillight, which I'm sure you've seen in the install video. No splicing, just tap on power wire into another so the brake lights come on at the same time. Pretty easy stuff.
