Anyway, I was mostly just sharing info from observations and conversations I've had to explain why people don't run Toyos more often in STR/STU/STX/RT*. I've co-driven with Michael Kuhn (Finished 10th in STX on Rivals) before and he has run all the hot street tires at one time or another on various surfaces. There were rare times when the Toyos worked well for him, but he preferred the RS3 and Rivals on his RX-8. He mostly cited heat being the downfall of the Toyos for him. Maybe he needs to rethink that since Jeff's RX-8 got first and he was in 10th! Or maybe Jeff Hurst is just awesome and would have run well on any of the top street tires!
Indeed. Hurst is definitely fast - he was consistently ahead of the Simmons/Ridgick BRZ locally and he barely lost the NJ Pro to Pallotta. But I think this is the first time I've seen him on Toyos - I wasn't at the tours but I thought he had been running Rivals most of the year. If this was more of a gamble... he must feel like the smartest man alive right now...
