They're having a sale for WS60's for $500 (closeout) in 225/40R18. That's what I had on my 2011 WRX and they were good. Only tried them the one winter. Back in 2008/2009 I had the Blizzak LM-22's, too, I think, for my 2005 STI and they sucked when we got our first glare ice.
Studded tires are allowed only between October 15th and April 15th in Alaska (I believe), so everyone rushes to get the changed out last minute. Blizzaks rock because you're not having to switch out at the same time as everyone else. You can ride on them for a week or so later. This past year we were still getting snow until the 3rd week of May, well after studded tires are allowed. It's just nice to not have to hassle.
