After the garage got down to a cool 70 degrees, the first order of business today was the oil change over to
Millers Nanodrive CFS 0w30 NT.
Installed Fumoto F-108S oil drain valve
Added some dive mesh to both of the brake cooling ducts to keep the bugs and debris out. Thanks again @
smbstyle for the mesh.
Installed Perrin Oil Cooler kit with the new black core from Mocal
I installed the kit from below with the help of the lift so I didn't have to remove the bumper; way easier just pulling the under trays off. Everything went on according to the instructions and I used high temp thread sealer on all the fittings.
First test run around the block with the cooler installed I had small leaks from both fittings on the cooler. With the heat expansion and contraction after cooling back down I guess I didn't get them tight enough so I tightened them again and wiped everything clean and went on another test drive and ended up tightening them again another 1/4 turn from the fittings and I made it 25 miles home completely dry with no leaks. Advice to anyone installing this kit just make sure you get the fittings REALLY tight and then re-tighten them at least once after a short test drive and keep those two wrenches in your car for the first few drives.
Oil temps are significantly lower now! Cruising home the oil temp hung out right around 180F in the 95 degree ambient temps that we have today where before the cooler I would run 220-230F cruising around. Previously at the track I'm certain the oil was getting to 270F+ since I could feel the timing being pulled and the car began to lose power late into my sessions in the summer heat. I shouldn't have that issue anymore! Power will be consistent all the time which makes the cooler worth it.
Speaking of power, it might be placebo, but the car does feel a little better up top with the Nanodrive 0W-30 oil in it.
Miller's did measure +6whp on a dyno with the same oil but 20 weight. It should make the most power after I thin it out a little more with some track time, which is conveniently only 20 days away!
Next up is a MUCH needed wash and vacuum. She's filthy!
