That's just the thing. We don't have to live the ugly base A/C either if we don't want to. If you take the numbered plaque out of it this little excercise proves is that there's not a single part I can't get my hands on assuming I'm willing to go thru the hassle (and it is a hassle) of ordering, installing and rewire-ring.
It's like engine swaps. You can put whatever in where ever if as long as you have the information and tallent to figure it out. It's a free country!..
