I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about the remote engine start system; maybe more knowledgeable people can help.

I find the Smart Entry&Start very convenient, but I don't want a remote engine start; maybe, if I had a garage. I'm not sure if it's OK for the engine to warm up while idling, though.
An alternative - a Webasto heating system, but again I have no experience with those.

I've already said a thing or two about steering lock; once the engine is running, it won't stop if the key is no longer in range (e.g. you can leave the car taking the keys with you, and the engine will keep running). Not all cars will lock themselves if you go out of range (mine doesn't).

I have not noticed any interference, though it's said you should keep the key away from e.g. your cellphone.
Thanks, this is good info. I see now that Smart Entry and Remote Engine Starter are two different things. Warming up an engine while it idles in most vehicles is recommended, so is cooling it down by letting it idle before you shut the engine off. I like smart entry, I'd also like remote start, unfortunately if they are two different things instead of one Im a little disappointed.

Ideally, if I could buy the feature/radio and have it link to my phone that would be awesome. We already have hands free systems, why not a transmitter so I can remote control my car? Could be fun... just sayin
