Probably wasn't the best choise of words! I didn't mean poor marketing in terms of getting the word out about this car... they have done a great job of that. I was more referring to their marketing hyping the fact about bringing back the fun/excitement of sports cars and targeting a younger audience of car enthusiasts and then when the production version comes along it has what I would call average sports car performance (sounds like it has great handling though from initial reviews). It's going to be the aftermarket that brings the fun and excitement.

So I think it is poor marketing from that point of view because they've targeted enthusiasts but only given them an very average base model to start from with no options for potential buyers to increase the performance when they buy from a dealership. I wouldn't be complaining if the price was lower (e.g. $30k + ORC), but as already mentioned most enthusiasts have plenty of other options to choose from in our market for around the price they are aiming for ($35-$40k). I understand they've set the price to what they can get away with here in Australia, by no means am I whinging about why other markets get it cheaper.

And lol 70NYD sounds like you're trolling with implying I think driving a GTS-T is like driving a GTR. I know there is a big difference, I'm not one of those idiots who bolt a lot of mods on and slap on a GTR badge :p When I bought my car many years ago I only had a $15k budget. I actually wanted a supra mk3 (the late 2.5L twin turbo model) but there weren't that many for sale around Perth at the time and the ones I looked at all had too many problems (bad owners!) so I ended up getting a skyline GTS-T instead.

I was never expecting the base model (N/A) to be boasting huge power figures, but the torque could have been a bit higher. I was hoping they were going to offer a turbo-charged model to appeal to those of us who do want more power (without resorting to aftermarket mods after driving out the dealership). Again I wouldn't expect anything near a GTR with a turbocharged model, but something to help it get down the straights faster. I'm sure others here were hoping for a turbo charged model too.

Anyway I do know how concepts work, make a pretty design and then butcher it to keep production costs low and chuck on some stuff from the parts bin. I do admit they have done a good job with the conversion from concept to production, but there are details I feel could be better (such as the rear brake lights, rear diffuser, etc). No doubt some great looking body kits will come out to make it look more aggressive, but like I said originally this is another reason to wait to buy one from the second hand market.

I still like the 86/brz and understand why people are excited about them. I wouldn't be able to justify to myself buying them brand new (which I was keen to do), knowing that most of it's appeal is the aftermarket possibilities that will void the warranty. I'd get too bored driving one in it's stock form just to keep the warranty. A turbo charged model would have changed my mind about that though.
