For me, it's mostly an improvement on getting in and out, but it's still nice when driving, as I don't always have both hands on the wheel (although the small wheel and tight steering makes me end up driving with both hands on the wheel more often than I have in my previous cars). I also have pretty long arms, so my arm doesn't really go over the e-brake.
