JV response on the GTR forum

"I apologize for not posting sooner but I was trying to hold out until I had something more official to report, unfortunately there’s nothing official yet.

So let me start off by saying I feel horrible about this incident and I apologize that the customer came away feeling that I was not supportive of his situation. That was certainly not my intent. And although the insurance adjuster has mentioned on more than one occasion that the fire was caused by an OEM part, we still don't have the official report yet and regardless, I know that receiving insurance compensation does not make up for the devastating feeling the customer felt at losing his car. In addition to the insurance investigation, Subaru now has the car and is investigating the situation. I am looking forward to their results and will definitely share that information when it becomes available."

As far as I know, he better hope the insurance claims OEM fault.. Because if they didn't, the insurance can deny that claim if they choose, unless the owner had extra coverage for aftermarket parts...
