To be fair, there are three reasons why you would favor this over aftermarket:

1. An OEM really should have the resources to do a better job fine tuning suspension settings. They should be able to try out 50 different damping rates, etc., to dial it just right with the tires and wheel combo. So they *should* be slightly better for the car than similar cost aftermarket items.

2. You are supposedly not paying for equipment that you just have to pull off. This *should* result in a savings. Whether they pass that savings on or not depends on the OEM.

3. A higher spec OE model will be favorable for warranty and resale value.

Not saying that you shouldn't do it yourself, but there are reasons why someone would buy the pre-tuned version.
