IMO it depends on whether you will be performance driving (track days or AX), if you Are, then 18x8.5 with 245 square would probably be your best bet, giving good out of the hole traction and the best track handling.

If you are going for a street setup, then staggered definitely looks better IMO, I'm running 18x8.5 front, 18x9.5 rear, 45 offset both front and rear, with MPSS 245/35/18 front and 265/18/35 rears with coilovers and a 1.5" drop and it looks outstanding IMO and will give great street performance. I plan to use my old stock wheels with some sticky rubber if I decide to track or AX, so I wanted to lower the car and stuff as much rubber inside the fenderwells as i could for great looks. I will be getting a trubo kit in the next few months, and I believe that my wheel/tire combo will do just fine.
