That was how Honda did it in my FD2, not sure if the S2000 was the same.

S2000 was the same.
This system is an RFID system. You never need to touch the keys. The S2000/FD2 system was pointless with the exception of restarting the car on track after a spin. Literally, the only time it saved time.
