I don't think anyone says this car needs a "turbo". What people are saying this car needs some extra horsepower.

Is everyone saying that? No, of course not, but a good bunch are.

According to your logic, if X Company doesn't make something, then you don't need it. Hmm....I wonder how every invention and product evolution has happened in the past 2 centuries? Most of the time companies DON'T know what you need, they start with a rough idea, like "an entry level sports cars", then they refine that idea through the years and generations according to the feedback of the consumers.

It's a sports car, it can always use more power (assuming a perfect world of no drawbacks like weight, balance, etc). Nobody is asking for a ridiculous amount of horse power, or a heavy v8, most people agree that extra 30-50 whp will make this car perfect, and guess what easy option gives you that?

I bet you anything, that eventually there will be a more powerful BRZ, exactly because the reason you dismissed, which is we as consumers will be getting the message across of "needs more power", Toyota/Subaru will get the point and accommodate their product accordingly, otherwise the competition will jump on the opportunity. That's how the market works, we tell the people that make stuff what we need and want, whoever makes it, wins.
