I can't argue with the reasons you're presenting. But its the fools that say it can't be done for less than $35k, or the ones that say they'd pay $40k for it...or even the models shown in the OP.
However I strongly disagree with your overlap with WRX comment. Driving both cars back to back the WRX feels like an SUV, and it's handling will never compare as long as the engine is hanging over the front axle. Nevermind most people that want to buy a coupe don't consider a 4 door.
