As far as I know this doesn't create torque but it will allow your cars engine to rev much faster (getting into the torque/hp band), and can give perhaps the torque feel. This allowed me to burn out easier or spin the tires/drift easier. The car was faster because of this also, noticeably, I might add.

shortening the gear ratio will make it
accelerate faster, but reduce your top end. that being said when are you really using the top end of a mustang? and no, it didn't affect the torque output of your engine at all, just allowed you to harness it faster.
