I've been seeing here and there comments about how "tiny" the turbocharger that we use is, and I have to admit, it irks me. Because it is, if anything, on the large size for somebody doing a daily driver build on a 2.0-liter motor. OEM turbochargers are much smaller and run out of breath much sooner, while we've been pushing past 300whp (wheel, not crank) at 10~11psi on 92 octane fuel. That's still 4~6psi before the turbo starts running out of breath.
A tiny turbo would be like the ones that Subaru uses on the 2.0-liter motors in Japan (I've owned 5 of them!), which run out of steam completely at 250-270whp. On the flip side, they did spool a bit better than our setup - by a couple hundred rpm at most, though.
