I think he was looking for a way to implement it with already existing equipment to save a few bucks (if possible).
The analog speedo is a perfect example of something that could be repurposed as a functional AF, boost or oil temp gauge. I've owned my car for over a year now and I can't recall ever looking at the analog speedo.
Another cool feature that I've mentioned to John V. would be if they could integrate a knock detection light on the dashboard (maybe by flashing one of the lights on the dash, whether it be CEL, high beam light, ABS light, whatever.) I'm not sure how much of this is technically possible, but would definitely be a cool addition and could be a good feature/selling point for ECUtek or OpenFlash Tablet if they were to incorporate something like that.
