Handling capabilities are always kept in mind at RS*R for spring-only applications as they are very adamant about function of the suspension from design standpoint. They are a suspension tuning company, not a cosmetic fad sell-and-forget merchandise maker.
So the FRS and BRZ has a different spring rate, to meet and match the individual differences in shock absorber/struts and are not designed for excessive level of drop. Although it isn't nearly as flexible in reaching peak improvements as per design constraints of the OEM shocks as their upper-end Sports-i Coil-over system, they are mildly stiffer than stock to maintain proper stroke range and to meet those on a more strict budget on modifications.
