You won't break your engine not following the breaking in guidelines. You won't even void your warranty as Subaru won't be covering the car by the time the wear shows up.
You probably won't experience the damage you do as likely some poor sap will buy the car used at 60,000 miles and it will begin to burn oil copiously for him.
Of course, if that purchaser has a compression test done properly before he buys your old wreck then he won't buy it.
But, really, what kind of maroon deliberately abuses a new engine? Skilled drivers break in their cars, their tires and their brakes properly as directed by the manufacturers. You can actually feel these components improve as you do so. Only an idiots fails to do so and then may wonder why they crashed or ended up with the only oil burner on their block.
I've broken in over ten new engines and finished breaking in a couple of used engines that were excessively babied. All have run high mileages without developing oil burning habits including, amazingly, three Italian engines. The recommendations for every one of those engines were the same recommendations Subaru gives.
