I read a test where Car and Driver ran an FR-S against a base Cayman just to see how close it would be. In an effort to level the playing field a little, they put stickier tires on the FR-S and decided that they had not done the car any favors. One of the great advantages of the car stock is the fact that the traction is so balanced that you can control it with the gas pedal if you know what you are doing. The stickier tires threw that all off. It got harder to deliberately slide the car around a tight corner, for example.
