It's very strange isn't it! Nothing else seems to make sense unless they didn't use fuel with any ethanol or had one of the ones that don't make a noise with ethanol maybe because of higher clearance?
Maybe the first pumps were machined elsewhere to the final supplier?

There has to be a reason it got missed.
