Hate to say it but "a tad bit higher" would be "just for looks" because it would actually make your car a tad bit slower. Also depending on how tall your sidewalls become your steering feel could also be negatively affected (slower response, etc).

Your best bet to fill the gap inexpensively, that would actually improve performance would be to buy shorter springs (RCE Yellows, Eibachs, CGs, Tein, etc) for about $150-$250 est. Then resell them when you're ready for coils. You could probably re-sell them for $100-$150 depending on the model.
