I would like to note that just because the gas station doesn't have the placard that says it contains ethanol doesn't mean it is actually ethanol-free. Gas stations in a handful of states (CA included) do not have to label that their gas contains ethanol. In most other states, gas stations only have to label ethanol content once there is a certain percentage.
In other words, some of the people that are having the crickets on "ethanol-free" gas could still be getting gas with ethanol in it, it just isn't labelled because they don't have to label it.
If you aren't filling up at a station that says in huge print "100% ethanol free gas" or "No ethanol in our gas" or etc, then you are most likely getting some ethanol content in your gas.
