Not sure about the takata, but Schroth's street belts have an Anti-Submarine Mechanism (ASM) that allows the body to move like it would with an OEM 3-point. This allows the Schroth harnesses to meet
DOT regulations and receive a
NHTSA letter of approval.
I have the Schroth Rallye 3 and 4 harnesses installed in my cars. I really only use them for AutoX and RallyX; and use the stock 3-point for daly driving sicne the Schroth systems leave it in place. But I like knowing that if I have to run somewhere quick during an event I can use the harnesses on the street with full confidence.
