Spotify works okay over USB. It recognizes the artist/track/album, time remaining, etc. The album art works MOST of the time, I'd say about 75% of the time. I read the manual and it only can display .JPG files, so maybe Spotify uses .PNG or .GIF on some album art.
The artist/track/album do show via BT SOME of the time. I've found it doesn't show up a lot unless I disconnect/reconnect the BT. The album art works about 10% of the time via BT. Mostly it shows a built-in generic "rock" or "pop" album cover. The few times it does show album art it seems to be bigger/known artists.
The head unit clearly prefers the iTunes music player as it reverts to it. If you start the car and had it on it on BT last, it reverts from Spotify to iTunes. If you get a phone call when playing Spotify via BT, it switches back to iTunes after you hang up.
My experience is on an iPhone 4S, perhaps it would be better on the iPhone 5.
I was switching from BT to USB on Spotify today the sound quality is CLEARLY better via BT, but that likely stems from analog (4S) to digital (5). The iPhone 5 has digital thru the USB now so it might not make a difference to anyone with the newer phone.
The nav works really well. I've been impressed with it. I just wish my passenger could program it while I was driving. I haven't had great luck w/ the voice recognition with it yet, but I haven't really tried much to be fair. Siri doesn't seem to work all that well with it either, but I also think that's an iPhone 4S vs. 5 issue.
