As I mentioned earlier, I have been using Shell 91 V-Power with no ethanol since day one and I have had crickets. There are also comments from others using e-free that they have crickets too.
But mine are not always there, but usually on hot days after lots of driving.
So either some of the Shell stations I go to are BS'ing about the no ethanol OR it is an intermittent issue that comes and goes so people are thinking no ethanol works.

Fair enough, maybe I spoke out of turn, I didn't see that there were some people using ethanol-free on every fill up and still getting the chirps. I started putting ethanol-free in my car and haven't had a single chirp in thousands of miles. Temperatures here have been getting up to 105* in the afternoon on my long drive home.
