the only thing is that the nav only module is meant for export only, not even sure if it would have US maps, lol. since electronics are a "no return" item, I'd hate to shell out $600 for a nav only module that only works in eurasia

you have to realize that they buy these units from Pioneer and because its a closed market item (only applicable to scions) they have to get a return on the R&D for the software, etc... so they sell it to Scion then Scion has to make money on it.
the current pioneer nav with aha retails for $899. so take that $899 and figure that scion has to make some money on top of it... not such a bad deal.
could be worse. my buddy that works for Jag recently replaced a new Jag headunit for a cracked screen and it was about $14,000.
same for LExus LS460 nav head unit $15,000!!! (google part number: 8643150090)
just saying... $1200 seems VERY fair to me
