The manual transmission sucks in the GC. Hopefully they fix it in the 2013 models.
The FR-S (its currently based on low spec 86, that is in the mid 2600 pound range) will be less than 2700 pounds. Remember the High Spec 86 was 2711 pounds according to the leaked documents. No way that the final car is going to be 100 to 150 pounds heavier. What y'all are all seeing very close to final production. There was a goal for them to stay around 2700 pounds or less.
The Genesis coupe is 3389 pounds for the V6 and 3294 pounds for the I4. The V6 GC is over 700 pounds heavier than the FR-S! And the I4 GC is over 600 pounds heavier.
Not say that the GC is a bad car...it will be even better in 2013 with the 350HP DI V6 and the 275 HP DI turbo. Plus i hear the interior materials are also upgraded a bit too.

you say it's only good on the r-spec and track models ... those are the performance models. the touring and base models don't have a LSD nor do they have the brembo brakes. so yea, obviously you don't want those for performance.
i agree that the tranny in the GC isn't the best, can't deny that. on a brand new car with brand new syncros, the shifter should simply glide from 2nd to third, but it wouldn't.
there really hasn't been any official word on weight, and every time i see it somewhere it's higher than before. so we'll see!
