Because they are pretty much in the same class/category?
Yes, there are differences (namely, one is a convertible), but the fact remains that they're both light weight, inexpensive, front-engine, rear-drive cars without all that much power but with a strong focus on driving feel and excitement. The comparison is pretty much inevitable.
