Years and years ago I raised my score from the 500s to in the 700s, and bought my first new "fun" car as a reward, a 2005 WRX. I'm anal as shit about my credit now and it stays over 800.
If you need any advice on dealing with collections feel free to PM me! I never had
a lot of debt, but I did have a lot of shitty roommates and carelessness in my youth, which in turn led to years-old negligent bills. It only takes a few to really jack you up, but the process for clearing your name is stacked way in your favor as a consumer. That is, if you know how to deal with them.
