What does having 200 horsepower have to do with anything? They said they added serious performance parts to the car (no doubt adding HP) as well as drastically decreased the weight. Did you even read the article and the list of cars this thing has beat? I would say the spoiler serves a purpose.
Now that said, I would never roll down the road with that thing on my car. The reason it's ricey to most people is because you don't need that for normal driving. However, on a track like the one they were on, is a totally different story. It does have a purpose.
