Subaru uses fairly cheap glass. It doesn't crack easily, but it does develop pitting. After 60k miles, my STI almost needed a new windshield just because of how bad the pitting was.

I don't own one, but I sat in a 2022 at the auto show a month ago and it did not telescope very far out. My guess is it's the same mechanism as prior gen, which I felt also did not telescope out far...
