The big difference between gen 1 and gen 2 for me is that the new model requires minimal modification out of the box. For track, you can wait for tS or Performance Package, or add quality coilovers...

I met a bunch of twins owners at a meet in Mesa in '18. They had a lot of days at 100F or higher this year, so plenty of sand but no snow. Snow would be found closer to Flagstaff I think.
