Haha, I did saw his answer, but I though he didn't really answer the question as to why the gear is not displayed. He only said there is no sensor and it's calculated. Some people may not understand...

I don't think there is a sensor in the transmission. The displayed gear is calculated based on the motor rpm and car speed. If you press the clutch, the RPM doesn't match the gear anymore.
